Currently, we are seeking a Senior Manager Portfolio Planning for our Appleton WI location.
POSITION PURPOSE:
Develop and maintain the global ITS Investment Strategy and Portfolio to ensure alignment with Enterprise and Business Unit priorities. In addition, facilitate the internal ITS project portfolio, ensuring that the ITS function provides a sustainable set of capabilities and services.
CUSTOMERS AND CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS:
Primary customers are the ITS CIO, ITS Directors, Corporate Finance and the Corporate Strategy Office. Other key customers include functional leaders and individual contributors where needs require specific knowledge and skills possessed by the incumbent.
As a business partner and thought leader, the ITS Portfolio Planning Lead will influence ITS strategy, ITS investment priorities, ITS program execution, and communication strategies. The incumbent is to provide proactive leadership and serve as an expert resource on the company’s worldwide Resource and Portfolio Management process. The customers also expect help in defining expectations, identifying barriers, and developing approaches to manage recommended investments that create alignment with strategic directions.
REPORTS:
Reports directly to the ITS Strategy Lead. Leads the Portfolio Planning team (Seven team members) and is the ITS Resource and Portfolio Management process owner.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
A college degree and 8-10 years of business experience, or an advanced degree in a relevant area, or equivalent relevant business experience are required.
Also required is demonstrated proficiency in each of the following settings:

- Ability to diagnosis and provide recommendations on ITS investments

- Able to work with multiple levels of the organization
- Comfortable with ambiguity, change and conflict
- Excellent communication capability – presentation, written, and verbal

- Ensuring that the ITS Portfolio is consistent with Enterprise and Business Unit priorities
- Gaining understanding of and commitment to the ITS investment strategy, the ITS portfolio as well as the methods of operation which can be difficult to translate and may run counter to individual stakeholder desires
- Driving ITS leadership to make difficult decisions and take ownership of key investment priorities and goals
- Gaining alignment to the portfolio at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work effectively with multiple levels of the organization
Key skills required for this position includes vision, collaboration, oral and written communication, analysis, initiative, flexibility, and motivation. Key knowledge requirements include functional skills, e.g. portfolio management, resource management, business strategy, communications, presentation, and facilitation.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1.Responsible for execution of the worldwide ITS Investment Management and Portfolio Management processes ensuring alignment to the long term ITS strategic plan.
2.Facilitation of the ITS Governance process to make funding and prioritization decisions for the global ITS project portfolio.
3.Provide ITS leaders with insights to support financial projects and measure project performance against expected business results.
4.Exhibit a clear partnership with the client community. Balance the requirements from Business Unit, Internal ITS and Enterprise Portfolio entities. Develop and implement portfolio tools, and procedures which will result in improved profitability and return on investment for the Corporation.
5.Prepare reports and make presentations to Kimberly-Clark management. Demonstrate responsible management reporting that is accurate and regular. Take action to assure others in the ITS and client community understand the plans.
6.Manage the ITS project portfolio cost center ensuring ITS project expenditures are within budget.
7.Participate in the development of the ITS Strategic Plan. Ensure that the strategic direction of the company is followed in tactical decisions which will result in improved profitability, improved operational efficiency, and increased administrative control.
8.Prepare departmental budgets and unit salary plans, as appropriate.
9.Provide functional and administrative leadership to subordinates. Act as coach, risk manager, performance evaluator, communicator, and mentor. Delegate appropriately in order to manage staff effectiveness.
10.Provide leadership to ensure the organization attracts, develops, and retains the best people and fosters an environment which motivates a diverse team to fully use its capabilities in achieving desired business results.
